Today we will look at local art Markets where to find them and some of their background trades and aspects this art centers are not the only creative centers in the country but are mainstream and well recommended this country is vast and sparsely populated and there are hidden gems everywhere this list only contains the most visited ones.
The No.1 place on this list goes to a place not so far from the Capitals CBD the Craft Cafe.
The Craft Cafe is not you're conventional go to place for rare memorabilia, but it has a great variety of art at their disposal that they display and sell for reasonable prices most modern African contemporary artist also display their works for a much wider audience and it's located in the centre of town.
At No.2 the most popular place to find rare art it's the ind.Craft Market
The ICM is a small conglomeration of seasonal artist and Sculptor from all over the country placing their art in the open for visitors and locals to have a clear and concise view of their works most of this artist are from disabled background selling to make ends meat and arenot really in thr fuss of modern collections their styles change annually on what they think the clients are interested in.
The No.3 the woodcarvers Market place in the Garden town of Okahandja.
The Mbangura Woodcarvers of Okahandja are a ground of Carpenters from a secluded tribe of the Zambezi and can't be classified as actual artist thier style is more tribal and works are from based on nature ranging from wildlife to lifestyle but certain carvings are on clients interest and not what one consider creative and carvings are duplicated throughout the group the only thing that sets them apart are the attention to detail.
The No.4 Place goes to a Womens Empowerment Project in Windhoek the Penduka Womens Project.
Penduka is a community project based in the Windhoek informal districts it's set to build women empowerment, talent is merely hand me downs and creativety recreational but has a considerable quality the work is set to improve the livelihood of the less fortunate and regarded as a self sustaining project rather than a full fletch art project set to brave into individual creativity.
The No.5 place goes to a little town in the not so far North of the country in Opuwo the Kunene Craft Center.
Kunene Craft Center is a historical display platform build to educate and develop the culture and lifestyle of one of Namibia's indigenous people it is a customary crafts center powered by the states community development projects the whole set of the center focused around the Himba People a sub-Saharan Buntu Indigenous Peoples who withstood the test of time and persist to thier origin Bandu customs.
The No.6 Place on this list is awarded to a Khorixas community development project the Khorixas Craft Center.
Khorixas Craft Center is located in the east of the country a former indigenous khoe decentends relocation sector also known as Damara or #Nu-Khoen district during the apartheid regime is where the group still remains till today although they rebranded the area and made it their homeland or retreat and create and practice various art and culture projects around town.
The No.7 goes to a the far northern borders the Tulengeni Craft center in Omuthiya.
Tulongeni which roughly translate to "let's work" is just one of many clay pottery marketing display centers in the far but not so remote provinces of the country the far northern borders make up more than half of this countries population and the area is rich with art and culture from a wide range of Bandu indigenous individual cultures.
The No.8 place is a district ensemble of community mining projects in the Usakos and Spitzkopf district.
The Usakos and it's near by Erongo mountains a rich with Natural crystals and local prospectors and opportunistic miners have sworm the area trying to make up for their disadvantaged backgrounds the crystals they display around the area range from all sorts except the most precious like diamonds etc. which area found are also available in the area but usually secluded and strictly prohibited if you are a bit superstitious or curiously trying to collect some earth stones and crystals this is the right place to start.
The No.9 Place on our list is awarded to a Swakopmund private sales market the Venita Market.
The Venita Craft Market is a one stop modern art gallery or some sort it's in the coastal town of swakopmund usually a place where you find yourself in Namibia by recommendation not really much to see around there besides they ocean and it's unstable climate the town resembles a ageing European towns Architecture with a local blend of culture the art is contemporary and the artist audacious and region founded.
The final place on this list is popular destination for fast explorers in Windhoek the Namibia Craft Center
Namibia Craft Center a moderate climate art display market that hand picks art from all tribal backgrounds is located in the central business district of the capital it's aim is to get a quick guided introduction for visitors to local art and it's style to visitors but have some carriagious attempts on western art as well.
