The list below is made up of just the small portion of sports utility vehicles that where used to explore the vast majority of the Namibian roads the list was created to cut out the mediocre minds that make the got more public aculeates from their history throughout the years they served locals on their social quests the SUVs on this list are from reputable brands with a perfect track record continuously improving their value in the Namibian offroad super compact sports transport market in the past decade even though most are brought by foreign explorers looking for quality transportation to reach the least explored corners of the country just looking for that edge over fellow expeditionist the list runs as usual from best to rest.
The Land Rover Discovery has lot to do with global exploration and since it's humble beginnings it has been the alternative form of transport for expeditions in Africa and the 2019 edition has more to offer then just is good looks it has a greater appeal to urban explorers then the outdoorsy types it as good on the gravel as it is on the Tared surface in the times when explorers handed in their guns for cameras pictures shared at light speed this SUV is more fitting to the Namibian gravel then any other on this list most of Namibia is made of dusty smooth sand and gravel terrain putting less wear and tear on the SUV itself.
The Q8 is one of those sporty fun SUV's on this list it's quiet in the inside and the same can be said about it when it's on the Tared surface it's repairs might come costly and the dust created by the sandy desert can easily encroach down it's sensitive electronic parts more for the urban explorer then most with its catchy appearance but just like any other Automobile from Bavaria it holds its own when tested to it limits be it dusty or murky.
The Jeep only falls second to the Land Rovers series when it's paired up for global discovery trips the Renegade even if it's small is more compact and agile then it's much explored versions its fast in a straight surface like any other American car but just a little quizzy when it's going around looped surfaces but can do almost anything when it's a optical course or low revs like taking on hills and valleys.
The Mazda CX-5 is at most a urban areas compact transport vehicles if something like that even exist but in Namibia 90 percent of the driving surface even if it's gravel is almost gentle smooth with a meandering turn or a dip at some point just the perfect excuse typos might have to label this SUV as a dream car even if it's approach might be gentle and wasteful in the western metropolises it fits perfectly in the arid dry Namibian climate and nips just about enough for an edge on the rest on this list.
The 3008 is Peugeots latest attempt on the downhill spiraling SUV market like any other French product it has a customary artistic approach on wider audiences it's teasingly gentle satire comes at a price tag just as th French wine Peugeot has taken a new approach on global markets opening small manageable size assembly lines in small stable counties including Namibia getting locals more involved in the creation of their brands and appealing to them on more then just their pockets but as a family.
The X6 is less known then it's bigger version the X5 but what puts it on this list is the power and grip it has on the Namibian gravel roads it effortlessly dives into high revs out of corners enacting that ever arousing thumbs that come from its hooted compartment giving drivers that bursting adrenaline rush that would last for hours most drivers just can't wait to get back into it keep blasting into the sunset its physically appealing as well as daring with that trademarked vents in its nose ever growing wider with every model on show.
The XC40 the safer side of live,it just about gives everything expected of it including add-on gadgets and accessories it slips through dips and effortlessly ascends hills but just like the Q8 it has a pretty costly repair record and it can take months to get the right spare parts for it even though they don't break so often it is the safest mode of transport on this list with a pretty nifty track record on its older models to back it all up it has all the road sensors needed for safer night driving when the Namibian wildlife are most active.
The Sorento is not your everyday competitor when the SUV market leaders are called to the stand but this new addition is just as ruthless on its quest to make a brand associated name of itself just like Samsung it does just about enough to create a worthy spot on this list and match in almost everything the western versions put in their machines often overlapping most even though it lags the custom personality the Peugeot has it matches it on the tracks and it has started to conjure up a substantial amount of support globally in terms of driving in the dusty tough Namibian climate it sets a fair trade.
The Nissan X-Trail is not new to the Namibian roads nor its Market it is a repeat offender it sets the standard around here you can not punch below it's belt anything below the X-Trails Marker is considered void and untrustworthy and for it's mediocre price tag it sets the gravel roads ablaze knocking over opsticals one at a time it goes right about anywhere you do it might be a slightly appealing then the Sorento but this is a trend setter in the unforgiving dusty roads of Namibia.
This was a place between the Toyota Fortuner and the Outlander but we chose the Outlander because its slightly impartial then most and has a great track record on gravel roads around the globe, the Toyota Fortuner has more followers then any of the SUV's on this list inside Namibia but just because of the brands past glorified past not because of what they do at present, the Outlander though has put it all on the line even though Mitsubishi has some successful cars under its brand the ones like the Outlander have to live up to the brands approach when tackling terrains of any type with a reasonably priced engine optimized for high revs and a drive train and suspension system equally important as its attachments.
